The fund was established with capital from the UK Government's Regional Growth Fund and is managed by GC Business Finance. While an initial two-year program concluded in 2017, the loan portion was designed as a revolving fund to continue supporting businesses. It specifically targets businesses that may not be able to access export finance from traditional lenders.
