Saltfoss Energy, formerly known as Seaborg Technologies, is a Danish company founded in 2014 that is developing advanced nuclear reactors. The company's primary focus is on the Compact Molten Salt Reactor (CMSR), a technology designed to be inherently safe and installed on modular, floating power barges. This approach allows for centralized, factory-based manufacturing of the power plants, which can then be deployed to coastal areas to provide clean, low-cost energy. The reactors are designed to operate for 12 years without refueling. In April 2025, the company rebranded from Seaborg Technologies to Saltfoss Energy to better reflect its core molten salt technology. Saltfoss Energy has formed a key consortium with Samsung Heavy Industries and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) to manufacture and operate the floating nuclear power plants, with the first commercial operation targeted for the early 2030s.
