The Seattle Kraken is a professional ice hockey team based in Seattle, Washington. The team competes in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Hockey League (NHL) as the league's 32nd franchise. The team was founded in 2021 after the NHL approved an expansion proposal from its ownership group, Seattle Hockey Partners. The Kraken play their home games at Climate Pledge Arena. In their second season (2022-2023), they made their first Stanley Cup playoff appearance. The ownership group is led by Samantha Holloway (Chairperson of the Executive Committee), and was formerly led by her father David Bonderman. Other owners include Jerry Bruckheimer and Tod Leiweke (CEO).
