SpiceJet is an Indian low-cost airline headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana. It operates passenger and cargo services to numerous domestic and international destinations. The airline's mission is to make air travel affordable and accessible to a broader Indian population, and it is a major operator of flights under India's regional connectivity scheme (UDAN). The company's origins trace back to an air taxi service founded in 1984, which later became ModiLuft in 1994 before ceasing operations. The dormant company was acquired by entrepreneur Ajay Singh in 2004 and was rebranded as SpiceJet, commencing its first flight in May 2005. The airline operates a fleet primarily composed of Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft. SpiceJet is a publicly traded company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India.
