Advanced Research and Invention Agency
Overview
The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) is a UK government R&D funding agency built to support high-risk, high-reward research and technological breakthroughs. It is an independent body, sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and was modeled after the US's DARPA. ARIA funds projects with the potential for transformative change, empowering scientists and engineers with the freedom to pursue breakthroughs at the edge of what is possible. The agency funds individuals and teams (called 'Creators') from universities, startups, and large organizations through various mechanisms, including grants, but does not take IP rights or equity.
