Breakthrough Energy Discovery is a platform within the broader Breakthrough Energy organization dedicated to advancing pre-venture, early-stage clean tech innovation. It provides funding, tailored support, and connections to help innovators develop bold ideas into scalable solutions. The platform operates through three primary focus areas: the Fellows program, which provides R&D grant funding and mentorship; Workshops; and Ecosystem support for universities and incubators. It aims to identify and foster high-risk technologies long before they are ready for conventional venture capital.
