Cancer Research Institute

The Cancer Research Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 1953 dedicated to advancing cancer immunotherapy. While its primary activities involve funding research grants, fellowships, and clinical trials, it also makes early-stage equity investments in private biotech companies. This investment activity is conducted through a venture philanthropy model, including the CRI Venture Fund and the Anna-Maria Kellen Clinical Accelerator. The goal of these investments is to support companies aligned with CRI's mission, often those founded by or involving scientists from its global network. The institute participated in the $16 million seed funding for OverT Bio in May 2024.
