Central Bank of Nigeria
Overview
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is the country's apex monetary authority, with a core mandate to ensure monetary and price stability, issue legal tender, and promote a sound financial system. In addition to its core functions, the CBN performs significant developmental roles, deploying capital through various intervention funds and development finance initiatives aimed at stimulating growth in key sectors of the Nigerian economy, including agriculture, manufacturing, and support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). While recently shifting to more of an advisory role and leveraging third-parties for new initiatives, the bank continues to manage its existing portfolio of development projects.
