Clean Energy Finance Corporation
Overview
The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) is an Australian Government-owned financial institution, often referred to as a 'green bank'. Established in 2012, its primary purpose is to facilitate increased investment into the clean energy sector to help Australia achieve its net-zero emissions targets. The CEFC invests commercially in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-emissions technologies across various sectors, including renewable energy generation, infrastructure, property, transport, and early-stage climate tech companies. It operates with a capital allocation from the government, which has grown from an initial $10 billion to over $32 billion, and aims to deliver a positive return for taxpayers.
