Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs
Overview
The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) are a U.S. Department of Defense program that funds innovative and impactful biomedical research. Established in 1992, the CDMRP is directed by Congress to target specific diseases, conditions, and injuries, with a focus on projects that are high-impact, high-risk, and high-gain that other agencies might not fund. The program supports the full pipeline of research from basic to clinical and aims to find and fund solutions that will lead to cures, improvements in patient care, or breakthrough technologies for Service Members, Veterans, and the American public. The U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) administers the program.
