Overview

Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (Corfo) is a Chilean government agency founded in 1939 to promote economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness. While its primary role is economic development, it is a key player in the country's investment ecosystem. Corfo acts as a Limited Partner (LP) by providing credit lines and resources to private venture capital funds. Between 1998 and 2024, it financed 72 VC funds with over US$1 billion. It also functions as an investor by directly providing equity-free seed capital and grants to startups through its internationally recognized accelerator, Start-Up Chile, which was founded in 2010. The agency's mission is to improve the country's competitiveness and productive diversification by fostering investment and entrepreneurship.
