Department of Science & Technology

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is a department within the Ministry of Science and Technology in India, established in May 1971. Its primary role is to promote, coordinate, and organize scientific and technological activities in the country. The DST provides financial support through grants, loans, and other schemes to scientific research institutions, startups, and industrial concerns to foster innovation, research, and development. A key associated body is the Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body established under the DST, which provides financial assistance like equity and soft loans to commercialize indigenous technology.
