European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator
Overview
The EIC Accelerator is a funding programme of the European Commission's Horizon Europe framework, designed to support high-risk, high-potential small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), startups, and in some cases small mid-caps, to develop and scale up game-changing innovations. It provides 'blended finance', a combination of non-dilutive grant funding of up to €2.5 million and direct equity investments from €0.5 million up to €15 million through its dedicated investment vehicle, the EIC Fund. The program targets innovations, particularly deep-tech, that are too risky for private investors alone, aiming to bridge the funding gap and accelerate market entry. It includes both an 'Open' call for any field of technology and specific 'Challenges' targeting strategic priorities.
