Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is a public research university. While its primary mission is education, it engages in investment-related activities through several arms. The Florida Atlantic University Foundation manages the university's endowment, investing funds to support scholarships, research, and academic programs. As of June 2024, the foundation's endowment was valued at over $295 million. The Office of Technology Development (OTD) facilitates the commercialization of university research, protects intellectual property, and assists faculty and student start-up companies. Additionally, FAU Tech Runway® is a public-private partnership that serves as a startup incubator and accelerator, providing companies with mentoring, resources, and access to grants and seed funding.
