FFG Austrian Research Promotion Agency
Overview
The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) is the national funding agency for industrial research and development in Austria. It is wholly owned by the Republic of Austria and acts as a "one-stop shop" to provide Austrian businesses and research facilities with access to research funding through a variety of programs. The FFG's activities aim to strengthen Austria as a research and innovation hub, supporting projects from the idea phase to market launch in areas like digitization, energy, life sciences, mobility, and space. Funding is provided through grants, loans, and guarantees. In 2021, the FFG approved €738 million in funding for nearly 5,000 projects, and its budget was significantly increased in subsequent years.
