Overview
Free Electrons is a global open innovation program and accelerator that connects energy startups with leading utility companies from around the world. The program is designed to facilitate pilot projects, commercial deployments, and investment opportunities to accelerate the energy transition. It is not a direct investment fund but a platform for collaboration between startups and a consortium of utility partners. The program, which has run annually since 2017, has resulted in over 200 pilot projects and deals exceeding $132 million, including direct investments from utility partners.
