Gitcoin
Overview
Gitcoin is a platform that empowers communities to build, fund, and protect open-source software and digital public goods. Founded in 2017, it operates primarily through the Gitcoin Grants program, which uses a quadratic funding mechanism to allocate funds based on the breadth of community support rather than the size of individual donations. The platform is governed by the GitcoinDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization, through its native GTC token. Since its inception, Gitcoin has facilitated the distribution of over $60 million to various projects.
