Idealab Studio
Overview
Idealab Studio is the operational name for Idealab, a long-running technology incubator founded by Bill Gross in 1996. Described as a startup studio and venture builder, the firm's model is to brainstorm and test numerous ideas internally. When an idea shows significant promise, Idealab recruits a founding team, provides initial seed capital, and spins it off as a standalone company. The firm offers extensive hands-on support, including office space, technology and product development, marketing, and strategic guidance. Idealab has created over 150 companies, resulting in more than 45 IPOs and acquisitions. Its investment sectors include artificial intelligence, robotics, e-commerce, enterprise, and clean energy.
