Innovation Network Corporation of Japan
Overview
Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) is a public-private partnership aimed at promoting innovation and enhancing the value of businesses in Japan . INCJ was established in July 2009 to create and nurture key industries via open innovation . The organization's prime objective is boosting the competitiveness of Japanese firms by promoting a philosophy of 'open innovation' and creating next-generation businesses in promising new technologies by providing capital and managerial support, through private-public partnership . In September 2018, the INCJ was reorganized with Japan Investment Corporation (JIC) being spun-off as a new separate entity, and INCJ became a subsidiary of JIC . All business functions of Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) were transferred to INCJ, Ltd. from September 2018 . With a fixed contribution from the government and a mandate to continue with investment activities until March 2025, INCJ, Ltd. is continuing the activities of INCJ, engaging in "Value Up" initiatives such as overseeing additional investments and milestone investments in portfolio companies as well as investment exit-related activities .
