Overview
The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) is a national research and development agency that plays a central role in Japan's Science, Technology and Innovation Basic Plan. It is a government agency overseen by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). It runs programs like "START" to create startups from university research and "SUCCESS" to provide capital contributions and support to early-stage companies. JST also manages the 10 trillion yen "Japan University Fund" to support research universities.
