Lateral Capital

Lateral Capital is a micro venture capital limited partnership founded in 2003 and located in Sarasota, Florida. The firm invests in early-stage companies across the United States, having backed more than 100 companies since its inception. Its investment criteria focus on companies with a completed product, proprietary technology, and a clear path to a strategic exit within 5-7 years. Lateral Capital invests across a wide range of sectors, including health care, industrial products, B2B software, and technology-enabled services, but avoids distribution-driven categories like food and beverage. The firm is managed by founder John Lilly and is currently investing out of its sixth fund, as well as a new fund launched in 2024, the Lateral Capital Opportunity Fund, LP.
