National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is an institute within the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Its mission is to conduct and support medical research and research training, and to disseminate science-based information on a wide range of serious, chronic diseases. The institute provides funding for research through grants to universities and other medical research institutions, including through Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. It also supports government scientists conducting basic, translational, and clinical research.
