Overview
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). It conducts and funds research on brain and nervous system disorders. The mission of NINDS is to reduce the burden of neurological disease by conducting and supporting basic, translational, and clinical research on the brain and nervous system; fostering the training and career development of investigators in the basic and clinical neurosciences; seeking better understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of neurological disorders; and disseminating scientific discoveries to the public, health professionals, researchers, and policymakers.
