Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse

The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG) is a public-private partnership founded in 2002 to provide investment and support for early-stage life sciences companies in Western Pennsylvania. It is a partnership involving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). PLSG focuses on sectors including biotechnology tools, diagnostics, medical devices, therapeutics, and healthcare IT, with the mission to foster regional economic growth. The organization provides capital, mentorship, and incubator space to entrepreneurs and emerging companies. As of 2018, it had invested over $22 million into 80 companies. Recent information suggests its role as the designated life sciences greenhouse for the region may be transitioning to LifeX Greenhouse.
