Rakuten Ventures

Rakuten Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Rakuten Group, Inc., which was originally launched in 2013. It now operates under the name Rakuten Capital. The firm invests globally in early and growth-stage startups in sectors including Commerce, Communications, Marketing, Financial Services, Mobility, and Healthcare, leveraging the broader Rakuten ecosystem to support its portfolio companies. Rakuten Ventures launched a $100 million global fund in 2014 and a separate ¥10 billion (approx. $84M) fund for Japanese startups in 2016.
