Siemens Technology Accelerator

Siemens Technology Accelerator (STA) is the corporate venture capital and company builder unit of Siemens AG, founded in 2001. It operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary and is part of Siemens Technology, the company's central research and development department. STA's mission is to commercialize cutting-edge Siemens technologies that fall outside the strategic focus of Siemens' main business units. This is achieved by creating venture capital-financed startups (spin-offs) or by licensing/selling the technology and business assets to established companies. The firm focuses on deep-tech innovations and has invested in sectors such as High Tech, Semiconductors, Enterprise Applications, Electrical Equipment, and Hardware. It often works with the founding team, which may include former Siemens employees, to build a business plan, acquire pilot customers, and secure external co-investors.
