Telefónica Ventures
Overview
Telefónica Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Telefónica. It operates through several vehicles, including Wayra, the company's open innovation hub, and Telefónica Innovation Ventures (TIV). Wayra began as an accelerator in 2011 and has evolved into a Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) fund with a unique 'venture-client' model that helps startups scale globally by providing access to Telefónica's network. Telefónica Ventures invests directly in technology startups and also acts as a limited partner in other venture capital funds. Its investment areas include cybersecurity, IoT, cloud, big data, AI, advanced communications, video, gaming, Web3, and fintech.
