Overview
The Government of Tamil Nadu invests in startups through its nodal agency, the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (TANSIM), also known as StartupTN. TANSIM's mission is to foster an innovative ecosystem for startups in the state to support the government's goal of becoming a $1 Trillion economy by 2030. It manages several funding initiatives, including the Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Grant Fund (TANSEED), the Tamil Nadu Emerging Sector Seed Fund (TNESSF), and the Tamil Nadu SC/ST Startup Fund. The investment in TowMan was made from the TN SC/ST Startup Fund, which is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs from Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe communities. TNESSF is a SEBI-registered fund focusing on sectors like AI, climate tech, and deep tech within Tamil Nadu.
