Tohoku University Venture Partners (THVP) is a Sendai-based venture capital firm operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tohoku University . As a public-private fund backed by the Japanese government, the firm is dedicated to regional revitalization and creation of new industries by funding and supporting entrepreneurs and business seeds born out of Tohoku University . While focusing on seed to early-stage investments and commercialization of research and technologies developed at the university, it may also invest in local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) related to the university . THVP remains sector agnostic and invests across a wide array of sectors .
