Overview
Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation established in 2016 to focus on research and development in artificial intelligence, robotics, automated driving, and advanced materials. In 2017, TRI formed a corporate venture capital arm, Toyota AI Ventures (now Toyota Ventures), with an initial $100 million to fund early-stage technology startups. TRI's initial investments, including in Nauto, were assumed by this new venture.
