Overview

The Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) program, established in 1987, is an initiative of the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech) at the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering. It promotes economic development and commercialization by providing matching grants for collaborative R&D projects between Maryland-based companies and faculty from the University System of Maryland. This funding is non-dilutive and supports translational work to develop new products and processes, rather than direct equity investment. The program has supported over 705 companies, and the resulting products have generated more than $52.7 billion in sales.
