Overview
UM Ventures is a joint initiative of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), launched in 2012 to commercialize university discoveries, create new ventures, and expand industry collaboration. It provides a unified service for licensing, patenting, and marketing university technologies to the business community. UM Ventures also manages investment funds, such as the Maryland Momentum Fund, to provide early-stage and seed funding to companies based on university intellectual property or founded by faculty, students, or alumni.
