Overview

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is the UN's capital investment agency for the world's 47 least developed countries (LDCs). It makes public and private finance work for the poor by providing grants, loans, and guarantees to unlock public and private resources. UNCDF's financing models focus on "last mile" finance, where available resources are scarcest, and work through savings-led financial inclusion and localized investments. Its thematic investment areas include climate finance, local transformative finance, inclusive digital economies, sustainable food systems, and women's economic empowerment.
