Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation
Overview
The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) is the independent, nonprofit technology transfer organization for the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Morgridge Institute for Research. Founded in 1925, WARF's mission is to support scientific research by patenting and licensing university discoveries, managing an investment portfolio, and moving innovations to the marketplace. Through its venture arm, WARF Ventures, it provides seed and growth funding to early-stage startups commercializing university technologies. WARF also invests as a Limited Partner in other venture funds. The proceeds from its commercialization and investment activities are granted back to the university to fund further research.
