Claude.ai and Claude Desktop

  1. 1Open Claude.ai or Claude Desktop and click "Customize" in the sidebar.
  2. 2Click "Connectors".
  3. 3Click "+" to add a connector, then click "Add custom connector".
  4. 4Enter Caplight as the name and https://platform.caplight.com/mcp as the URL.
  5. 5Click "Add". Caplight will appear in your connector list.
  6. 6Click "Connect" and authenticate with your Caplight account.

Which clients does Caplight support?
We currently support Claude.ai and Claude Desktop.
Do I need an API key?
No, you just need an account on Caplight.
How is this different from Caplight's API?
The REST API is designed for programmatic, machine-to-machine access: scheduled jobs, data pipelines, and embedded widgets. The MCP server is optimized for interactive AI agents — Claude can call the right tools in the right order, reason over the results, and synthesize multi-step research without you writing any orchestration code.
What data is available through the MCP server?
The MCP server exposes the full Caplight dataset across 15 tools: live MarketPrice quotes and price history, secondary order book and trade history, company profiles, COI filings, fund marks from SEC filings, funding rounds with amounts and valuations, investor participation, and quarterly market summaries. New tools are added as the dataset grows.
Does the Caplight MCP have access to my chat sessions?
No. We only process the tool calls that your LLM requests.
