Overview
The European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) is the first private venture capital impact fund exclusively focused on the bioeconomy and circular bioeconomy. Initiated by the European Union and backed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the fund invests in European growth-stage companies with high potential for innovation, favorable returns, and sustainable impact. Its goal is to accelerate the transition from a fossil-based economy to a bio-based, circular one, in line with the European Green Deal. ECBF targets sectors such as agriculture, food, bio-based chemicals and materials, forestry, the blue economy, packaging, and personal care. The fund is established in Luxembourg, managed by Hauck & Aufhäuser Funds Services S.A., and advised by ECBF Management GmbH in Germany.
